I began getting into dogs at 15, when I was recruited by a local search and rescue team. I got my first dog, a German Shepherd I named Kai, and successfully trained him in wilderness airscent and HRD (human remains detection). We trained every weekend, went to multiple seminars in WA, OR and MT, and went on searches together (including the Oso mudslide). I sent my boy over the bridge while eating Taco Bell, at the age of 12, in 2022.
My first job out of highschool was at a local doggy daycare/boarding facility in 2013. I have worked there on and off for over 10 years! Gaining lots of experience with dog behavior, administering medications, proper dog handling and facility cleaning.
In 2018, I imported a Czech Shepherd I named Frag. I completed his detection foundation and now my partner uses him to search youth prisons for contraband. We have also lightly dabbled in personal protection, frisbee, herding, dock diving, and barn hunt.
My partner is the founder of Woof Project Belgian Malinois Rescue. Since 2017, I have whelped multiple litters, and fostered over 100 dogs for the rescue. Today, I have the grievous job of evaluating “red zone” dogs to decide if they are rehab-able or not. This has given me incredible knowledge and experience in aggression, reactivity, different types of drives, and genetics in general.
After having 3 kids, I decided I wanted to get on the small dog train since they are easier to tote around. I researched and bought a pair of Schipperkes. I am working on getting them conformation, weight-pull and nose-work titles. Also hoping to potentially plan and whelp litters in the future.
I’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge and gaining more experience.
I believe if you don’t have morals and ethics then you don’t deserve to be in dogs!
